There`s a reason why Super Bowl ads are expensive. The game is regularly the most watched event on television and, in a recent poll, 51% of Super Bowl viewers tune in just to see the commercials. Naturally, Hollywood studios use the game to publicize some of their biggest upcoming flicks.

This being the Super Bowl, action and special effects ruled the day. There was the mano-a-mano sword play of «Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time» and Ridley Scott`s «Robin Hood» and the eye-catching, jaw-dropping visual worlds detailed in «Alice in Wonderland» and «The Last Airbender.» And if you`re a horror maven, there are three flicks to look forward to: «The Crazies,» «The Wolfman» and Martin Scorsese`s «Shutter Island,» starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Basically, during last night`s game there was a movie spot for just about every kind of movie buff, unless you`re a romantic comedy fan.

David Buckley arbeitet häufig mit Harry Gregson-Williams oder John Powell zusammen - in Los Angeles für Remote Control - und ist ebenfalls ein britischer Komponist. Neben seinem neusten Film From Paris with Love komponierte er bereits Blood Creek (Town Creek), Tell Tale oder The Forbidden Kingdom. Auch im TV- und Videogame-Genre ist er tätig und hat so z.B. Metal Gear Solid 4 zusammen mit Harry komponiert.

2006 zog er nach Los Angeles und arbeitet seither als Additional Writer für viele Filme von Harry Gregson-Williams, u.a. Gone Baby Gone, Shre, Flushed Away oder The Number 23.

Die geplante Verfilmung des Videogames Metal Gear Solid ist leider gestorben, da sich SONY und der Spielhersteller Konami nicht über die genauen Eckdaten des Films einigen können, laut Aussagen von Produzent Michael De Luca.

Ein Metal Gear Solid Film wurde erstmals im Jahre 2007 angekündigt, wo auch David Hayter (X-Men, Watchmen) und Regisseur Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium) ein Drehbuch für den Film schreiben sollten. Kurt Wimmer war auch als Regisseur gedacht.

Offenbar kommt es nicht mehr soweit. Bisher waren unter anderem Steve Jablonsky und Harry Gregson-Williams für die Videogame Soundtracks verantwortlich.
